Dr. Kamal bin Abdullah Al Hamad, Secretary General of the GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre, has announced the initiation of an AI-driven mechanism to enhance international commercial arbitration processes.

This aligns with the national visions of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and reflects the prevailing trend of leveraging AI in digital transformation. Dr. Al-Hamad held a productive meeting with Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), focusing on integrating modern technologies into the legal industry.

Discussions covered advancements in data analysis, adoption of legal programs simulating human intelligence, and the collaborative formulation of legislative plans for AI application in arbitration and dispute resolution.

Dr. Al Hamad emphasized the need to train arbitrators and legal professionals in GCC countries to meet contemporary demands, citing a study indicating a global increase in AI adoption in legal institutions.

He underscored the potential of AI technologies to enhance arbitration processes and expressed the Centre's commitment to aligning with global developments. Dr. Al Hamad detailed the capabilities of AI programs, highlighting their role in simplifying workflows, expediting operations, and providing strategic insights for arbitrators. The integration of AI into the arbitration industry is seen as proactive and aligned with the anticipated global spending on legal AI tools, projected to reach $37 billion by 2024.
