Students from the University of Bahrain, the Royal University for Women, and AMA International University have been briefed on Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Salman Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Youth Work launched in 2011 in tribute to her role in supporting charity, social and voluntary work.

The students were told about the award objectives of spreading the concept of volunteerism, highlighting its moral value as a national and humanitarian duty, developing the role of individuals and groups in achievements, creativity and sustainability of volunteer work, enhancing the spirit of competition, and highlighting youth initiatives in implementing projects serving the community.
The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) explained to the students that Bahrainis with voluntary projects who fulfill the requirements for nomination for the award can participate by filling out a form on the Council's website.
Cash rewards will be presented for the best voluntary works at the individual and collective levels.

Applicants in the third edition of the award must be Bahraini nationals, aged between 18 and 35, and must present their work under educational institutions, universities or civil society institutions.
The first two editions were termed as highly successful thanks to the quality of the work presented, both at the individual and collective levels, which reflected the significance of youth voluntary work in Bahrain and the keenness of young Bahraini women and men on being actively engaged in good deeds.
The award is one of the initiatives of the Supreme Council for Women to promote and support the spirit of volunteerism among young people in the Kingdom and to encourage them to take the initiative and be creative in a field that has been associated with Bahrain throughout its history and has steadily enriched its civil society.
