Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh and Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal urged international concerted parliamentary efforts to overcome the challenges and repercussions resulting from the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

The stressed the importance of Government’s plans and policies to maintain the develop momentum, adding that the pandemic has affected many states with respect to the implementation of the UN sustaianable development goals, as countries harness all their efforts to combat COVID-19.

They made the statement as they addressed the The Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (5WCSP).

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Geneva, and the Parliament of Austria jointly organized the two day Conference with the support of the United Nations (UN).

The Shura Council Chairman and Council of Representatives Speaker said that the legislative branch of government in Bahrain would continue efforts with other parliaments to expand cooperation and find effective solutions to common issues.
