The authority responsible for medicine in Nepal has begun an investigation into how a Bahraini Emir was able to introduce the Covid-19 vaccine into the country without permission.
Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Al Khalifa arrived in Nepal on Monday, with nearly 2,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Importing medicines into Nepal needs prior approval.
The Bahraini embassy told Nepalese media that the prince's team wanted to vaccinate the villagers in Gorkha district.
On Tuesday, Thanchur Gurragen, a spokesman for Seven Summits Trek - the company that organizes the Prince Al Khalifa trip - told the Himalayan Times that after a seven-day quarantine, the group will travel to the municipality of Shumenurbi Rural, in the Gorkha region.
