Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa met Saudi Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb, in Riyadh, as part of her regional tour to meet senior Arab officials, following her nomination by the Kingdom of Bahrain to the post of UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Secretary-General.

BACA chief said that her nomination w reflects the Arab countries’ role in developing the tourism sector, praising the Saudi to the Kingdom of Bahrain and Arab states.

The Kingdom of Bahrain nominated Shaikha Mai last November to the post of (UNWTO)  Secretary-General, amid mounting challenges facing the global tourism and other sectors.

She had outlined a seven-pronged strategy to revitalize this vital sector and strengthen its crucial role in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), set by the United Nations.
